Seated acupressure massage is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Japanese Anma acupressure.

Anma is Japanese for ‘press and rub’ and aims to stimulate the acupressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, spine and lower back using thumb, finger, elbow and knuckle pressure.

How does it work?

Pressure on the meridians stimulates the circulatory, muscular, nervous, immune and lymphatic systems and promotes the release of endorphins and important mood-regulating neurotransmitters, leaving the client feeling relaxed, energised and in a focused frame of mind.

Unlike acupuncture, seated acupressure massage does not use needles. The therapist uses his or her hands to stimulate the energy points which can be found along the 12 meridians, or energy lines, of the body. The therapist uses a specific sequence of movements, called the ‘kata’, which is designed to improve the flow of energy throughout the body balancing and strengthening the body’s muscular, circulatory and nervous systems.
